TAKE 3 AGENCY · THE EXPLAINER
What is a SPACT?
SPACT is short for SPecial ACTion performer, sometimes called a Special Action Extra. A SPACT is a performer booked for a real, proven skill and engaged to perform it safely and repeatably on camera.
Like an SA, a SPACT is usually booked through the crowd department and works in the world of the scene. The difference is the skill. Where an SA brings presence, a SPACT brings action: choreographed sword work in the background of a battle, the riot line that has to hold, the horde that moves as one.
01 · WHERE IT STARTED
When we started the agency, we saw the same problem again and again. Scenes needed performers who could handle a sword, move with confidence around the action or carry a weapon convincingly, and productions had nowhere obvious to find them.
Those requests often went to background agencies, where a ticked box on a profile was taken as proof of a skill. On the day, that wasn’t always enough.
We took a different approach. Every performer is auditioned and assessed before joining Take 3, so when a production books a SPACT through us, they know the skill is real. What began as a small group of performers working alongside stunt teams has grown into much more.
02 · THE PATH TO STUNTS
Training the next generation
Many of our SPACTs are working towards the British Stunt Register, including artists on the official trainee scheme, and we track their progress closely so we always know who is ready for what. We also train our artists ourselves: we host weekly training sessions so they can keep improving, and workshops with industry professionals so they can keep expanding their skills.
