WHAT IS A SPACT

More than an SA. Built for the action.

Some scenes need more than presence. They need performers who can handle choreographed combat, march, move and react with real skill, safely and take after take. That’s what a SPACT does.

Since 2019, Take 3 has shaped what the term means on set and built a dedicated roster of auditioned, assessed Special Action Performers around it.

Tested performers. Expert team. Simple booking.

PERFORMERS, TEAM, BOOKING

Every skill tested

Every SPACT is auditioned and assessed before joining Take 3, so the skill you book is the skill that turns up. Our performers learn choreographed movement quickly, repeat it precisely and work safely within the limits set by the AD and stunt departments.

A team that knows action

Everyone on our team is trained to understand action and SPACT work. We work hand in hand with crowd departments and stunt coordinators, so your brief is handled by people who know what the scene involves and what it takes to deliver it safely.

Clear rates, no chits

Our SPACT rates are built on the PACT/FAA agreement, developed in-house and reviewed every year. They are now widely used as a benchmark across the industry. Bookings run through our own chitless system, built around the way ADs, production and accounts departments actually work, with contracts and release forms handled from booking through to wrap.

Where a SPACT actually gets used

SPACTs are booked across film, television and multiple different genres, from week-long battle sequences to a single scene that needs one exact skill.

PERIOD & WAR

Battles, landings & ceremony

Soldiers storming a beach, archers holding a line, guards marching in step or carrying a coffin with perfect timing. Period drama asks for discipline and drill as much as action, and our SPACTs bring both.

SCI-FI & FANTASY

Troopers, warriors & other worlds

Armoured units taking control of a crowd, squads storming a building, and warriors who look and move like they belong in another world. Every formation is rehearsed, so the action stays controlled however many times it’s reset.

CREATURES & THE UNDEAD

Zombies, prosthetics & bodies

Undead hordes with a movement style that has to match from the first performer to the last, creature performers working inside heavy prosthetics or full suits, and bodies that stay completely still through long takes. It takes stamina, control and patience, and our performers have all three.

  • The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power poster

POLICE & MILITARY

Police, soldiers & tactical units

Officers making an arrest, SWAT clearing a building, and soldiers who move, drill and hold a weapon the way the real thing does. Our performers are trained in weapons drill and handling, working under the armourer’s direction, so every stance, sweep and reload reads as real and stays safe.

FIGHT & COMBAT

Rings, gyms & standoffs

Boxers in the ring, fighters training in the background of a gym, gang members backing up an actor in a standoff. Our SPACTs know how to make a scene believable while staying in control and never pulling focus from the cast.

CHASE & REACTION

Moving with the action

Passers-by scattering in a street chase, crowds parting at exactly the right moment. Chases rely on timing, spatial awareness and great reactions. With a scene like this, safety is key, and our performers understand every part of that!

SPACT, Stunt Performer, Supporting Artist

Annotated production frame of a castle siege: a performer swings in on a rope above a shield line and a crowd of soldiers

SC. 12: THE SIEGE · ONE FRAME, THREE ROLES

SELECT A ROLE, OR CLICK A PERFORMER IN THE FRAME, TO ISOLATE THEMTAP A ROLE, OR A PERFORMER IN THE FRAME

NOT A REPLACEMENT

A SPACT enhances the scene.

A SPACT is not there to take the place of an actor, a dancer or a stunt performer. They are there to lift a scene and support the departments around them.

We work hard to keep a clear line between every department. When a sequence calls for stunt work, it goes to qualified stunt performers on the right contracts. When it needs dance, it goes to dancers. SPACTs fill the space in between, so every performer on set is doing the job they were booked for.

Take 3, without a doubt, are always my go to agency when it comes to special action performers. The artists they represent have always been reliable, professional, and skilled - it is always a joy to have them on set. Over the years Tyler and his team have never let me down, however big, small or tricky the task is. Having used Take 3 on multiple productions, I honestly wouldn’t want to tackle specialist crowd work without them. They’re invaluable not just for high risk elements where safety is paramount, like weapons or combat training, but also for dancers and complex, detailed bookings that require truly experienced performers.I honestly wouldn’t want to tackle specialist crowd work without them. The team at Take 3 have been by my side on many weird and wonderful casting adventures since 2023, and honestly, I don’t know how I’d do it without them. Together we’ve powered through hours of sweat, the occasional tears, and a whole lot of organised chaos to cast everything from ballroom and Latin dancers, to gunmen in shootouts, fighters, impressively tall bodyguards, and brilliant SPACTs supporting our stunt teams. No matter how big, small, or slightly unhinged the request, I know I can rely on Take 3. The people they send are always ridiculously talented, genuinely lovely, and somehow exactly what we need every single time. And the most important part? It’s always fun.No matter how big, small, or slightly unhinged the request, I know I can rely on Take 3.
